We hacked the rock!

Sandvik Mining and EIT RawMaterials (https://eitrawmaterials.eu) organized the first ever Rockathon Mining Challenge on 4 and 5 September in Tampere, Finland. The aim was to find innovative concepts and solutions to create on-board analyzers to be integrated with their mining equipment. SPECTRAL was one of the four teams (out of 19 European applications) that made it to the Final.

After 2 days of live demo’s and intensive expert interviews to learn the needs the mining industry has, the concept pitched by SPECTRAL was selected as the winning innovation of the event. In the near future SPECTRAL and Sandvik Mining will investigate which steps are needed to bring the proposed technology towards actual application.
